The Fourth Annual Skeese Greets Women's Triathlon, held May 16th in New Braunfels, Texas saw Austinite Natasha Van Der Merwe take the overall win with Masters standout Elizabeth Moorehead coming in second.  Rounding out the top three was Angie Balentine from Jack & Adam's Bicycles. Hundreds of other participants, spectators, and volunteers filled the venue at the Texas Ski Ranch for a fun-filled day of swimming, biking and running.

With temperatures in the upper 70's and overcast skies, the all women's tri went smoothly from beginning to end. Before the gun went off, Laura Haggarty led the crowd with the singing of the National Anthem. From there the 431 finishers, ranging in age from 13 to 72, began the 300 meter open-water swim, then progressed to a beautiful 11 mile bike ride through the Texas Hill Country, and ended with a 2 mile run.  Van Der Merwe, a South African native, had a commanding lead over the rest of the field finishing in 46:51, more than 4 minutes in front of second place.  Event producer and owner of Skeese Greets, Stacy Keese, has received numerous thank you emails and compliments from participants, with one being from Anna Rabara Taylor, "I love this triathlon and look forward to it being the start to my tri season for years to come. Thanks for the special treats this year - the name on our bibs, the necklace & the reuseable bag!"

Thousands of dollars in prizes and giveaways, including items from sponsors Skeese Greets, Jack and Adam's Bicycles, Cornucopia Popcorn, TYR, Pure Sport, Cross Fit Central, and Luna Bar helped to create the fun atmosphere. Finishers also received reusable water bottles, a finisher's necklace, burgers, Fat Tire Beer, ice cream from Kool Kones and fresh fruit provided by Texas Iron Training. ChampionChip timing by Run Far Racing Services and professional sports photography by Kreutz Photography, along with all the volunteers, also helped make this year's event a success. The Fifth Annual Skeese Greets Women's Triathlon is being planned for May 2011.
